Hi! I am not a teacher. The purpose of this blog is to share my Chinese lessons with everyone. A short introduction about myself.
I am a 'banana' meaning yellow on the outside, white on the inside. Some people may view this as racist, but I find it quite funny. What it means is that I am a Chinese but not able to understand Mandarin. My mother tongue is Cantonese. I can speak and understand but not read and write. As for Mandarin, can't speak, read, listen nor write.
Since started my Mandarin class, I find it so interesting and would love to share the knowledge with everyone. In fact, before I enrolled in the class, I have surf the web to learn more. There are many free Chinese lessons everywhere in the WWW. Some webs are superb as it teaches you the strokes of the characters, flash style, meaning, you be shown stroke by stroke. I will share that with you too! If you have iPad or Tablet or something similar, you might be able to get some free Learning Chinese apps. I found some and they are excellent. But I was not able to learn the basics. Most of the website will just go straight into the Chinese characters and I was wondering, where do I begin? So, hope this blog can help you.
Nowadays, it is very difficult to find anything that is free. So, I thought, why not share this for all? Mandarin is fast becoming a popular language. It's useful especially when you travel to China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
What makes me take up Mandarin was after my trip to China, I found I was considered as illiterate and they have more compassion for Westerners than a fellow Chinese. Therefore, let's share this knowledge and I hope it will benefit someone out there!
